TRYST OF BLUE Diary |

The following is a diary entry I started writing on 09.11.01. I have recently 'updated' it for this web page, mainly cleaning up spelling and grammatical errors leaving the majority of it as it was. We were in Shantiniketan, a small 'arts' village in the state of West Bengal in India. I was with my crew staying in a grouping of bungalows finalizing the details before we were to begin shooting four days later. Soumitra Chatterjee, the lead actor was not due to arrive until the next day. As you will read our rooms didn't have phones, just TVs of varying quality. As for a glossary, 'Sumo' is a Japanese SUV type vehicle popular in rural areas and as long-range taxis. 'Choto masi' literally mean little aunt. My wife's family is from Calcutta and her aunt still lives there. She is 'choto' because of all her sisters she is the youngest. 'IC' is the co-producer Indranil Chakravarty, Ranjan is Ranjan Kamath the DP, Ranjeet was the 1st AD, 'PD' is Paul, our main production assistant, Panaki was the script supervisor and Nilanjan was our location scout from the area.
Soumitra Chatterjee visits Long Island 07.05.05!
