JONES

 PRESTON MILLER

Over the last decade he has written and directed a number of short films and videos, some of in which he has also acted. Most notably, “THE MOLE” and “DISHWASHING DETECTIVE” showed in festivals in New York, North Carolina and Calcutta.

He has recently completed his first feature-length film titled “JONES”, a grim and graphic morality tale about a very likable guy who might be as detestable as any you'll ever find. “JONES” shot in real-time over one hour and a quarter, enjoyed a successful run at THE PIONEER theater in Dec. 2007 and is now available on DVD.

He is in development on "GOD's LAND" about a religious group from Taiwan who travel to Texas to find Jesus on TV and the end of the world. Shooting should commence in late 2008. In the meantime he has created an episodic audio production or 'radio show' with actors and sound effects that will run weekly on the internet later in the fall of '08.

He continues to work on his ongoing production of, “TRYST OF BLUE” with Soumitra Chatterjee, Youki Kudoh and Maria Conchita Alonso shot in India, Japan, Ireland and other locales. He is currently at work on his next feature-length screenplay “HEADING HOME,” about an American decapitation victim in Iraq revisiting the people and events that led him to his grisly doom.

He has also worked as Producer, Editor and Videographer playing an integral part in the creation and production of the Museum of Jewish Heritage and the South African Jewish Museum, as well as other venerable projects for Doar Litigation, Rainmaker Productions, Price Waterhouse, Chase, CSFB, Salomon Smith-Barney, Andor and BookStreamInc.com. A few years ago he appeared as “Skank” in “GODASS,” a film by Esther Bell that has screened on the Sundance Channel and Showtime in the U.S. and numerous international festivals.

PM was born and raised in Raleigh, North Carolina. He attended Appalachian State University for three years before transferring to City-College of New York. There he graduated in 1995 with a Bachelors of Fine Arts with honors in the Communications, Film & Video Dept. He currently resides on Long Island, New York with his wife, Pia and their son, Nikhil.

He continues to be a student of cinema and enjoys reading about and seeking out rare and treasured international films. Filmmakers he finds sublime include Satyajit Ray, Hou Hsiao-Hsien, Jean-Luc Godard, Abbas Kiorastami, Victor Erice and Jim Jarmusch among others. Jethro Tull, sojourns to India the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the New York Knicks (ugh..) also play important roles in his life... as of course, does Vindaloo!
